Banpresto Squirtle Bank
This oddity may be the oldest piece in my Squirtle collection. Despite the Pokémon games first being launched in 1996, its copyright is stamped in 1995. Since the games came out in February, and it's likely that merchandise was produced before the games' release date, that shouldn't be too surprising. But still, that makes it a very old item... And for some reason, Squirtle shell is blue. An early design? Value: ? © Banpresto 1995 |
Talking Zenigame
Sound-activated! This is a Japanese toy, so he says Squirtle's Japanese name, which is Zenigame. Very cute. Some people think he says "kame kame" (as kame means turtle), but he actually says "Zenigame". Remember to remove the batteries from your toys, or else they'll corrode. Although this toy had both a US and a JP release (with different packaging), both of them speak only Japanese. Value: $10+ © Tomy 1997 |
Squirtle THINKChip Figure
These were sold for the Pokémon Battle Stadium, an interactive electronic toy that lets you train and battle Pokémon! The stadium was too expensive for 10-year-old me.... but the figures are pretty cool. I've included a view of the bottom (helps in trying to identify figures). Note that Squirtle was part of the original release of Thinkchip figures, and there are figures from generations 1, 2, and 3 (with decreasing quality). I don't have a stadium, so I'm not sure if this guy still works. Value: $10+ © Hasbro 2000 |
"WATER GUN" SQUIRTER
These rubbery figures are really cute and colorful! This is one of the newest water toys that came out for Squirtle, and they are larger than the previous ones. To see the full set of "Water Gun" squirters (Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Oshawott)... see my post here! |
Squirtle PokeDoll Figure
A very cute, solid figure that copies the style of the famous Pokédoll plushies! Although it's made of hard plastic, it has a very "soft", matte feel to it. Comes with a base that resembles the Pokédoll tags. "It was only available in the 'Waku Waku Get' special lottery at the Pokemon Centers in Japan, in July, 2012. If you paid 500 yen (About $5.25) for a random lottery ticket at the Pokemon Center, you had a chance to win this prize." - PokéVault Value: $25+ © Pokémon Center 2012 |
Squirtle Backpack Plush
Though I don't normally collect plush, this Squirtle is one of my top favorite pieces in my collection. It is one of the first Pokemon toys I ever bought, and I carried it with me a lot as a kid. As a backpack, it is made to only fit a child and the storage compartment is small. The way it zips up makes it look like you are storing things inside Squirtle's shell, and the material is very, very soft. This is one of my few, but treasured, Squirtle plush. |
